| To
uphold the spirit of our charter, the IEL Board of Directors
established the Charitable Giving Committee two years ago to
identify organizations in our community that we could support
through financial grants and volunteerism. We chose to look for
equine-based non-profit organizations that offer therapeutic riding
to physically and mentally challenged children. We developed
criteria for selection that included on-site visits.
Last year we selected five organizations. Those organizations proved to be outstanding choices in the services provided , use of funds and volunteer experiences our members had working in their programs. Based upon the success of that relationship, the committee recommended and the Board of Directors approved the awarding of restricted grants for a second year as follows to:

Each of these seven organizations is
in great need of volunteers. There is a wide range of volunteer
opportunities available that are appropriate for high school aged
students. Each organization offers volunteer training. Remember that
many IEL member schools require community service hours. Please
